It is. He gets to start a fresh new life at 48. The victim doesn’t of course. Being eligible still leaves hope he won’t ever be let out but if he’s been a good boy he’ll get released.

I found a article that said he claims that he didn;t act alone. Whether or not he told the truth in court, he is still guilty. I think he got mixed up with the wrong people and his biggest problem was drugs. Hard drugs, cocaine apparently. He belongs just where he is, that’s for sure. He has many years to think about what he did.

There were considered copycats through the decades because the area is so remote and traveled largely by transients (tourists, truck drivers). Its not hard to see the signs all lining the highway warning girls (and guys) not to hitchhike but the limited resources of transit in the area make it difficult for a lot of the indigenous peoples to get anywhere otherwise.
