Also “he’s old and will have a bad time in prison” seems to be a good way to get probation for child molesters… I shudder to think of the amount Australians pay annually for the incarceration of repeat violent sex offenders (only REPEAT offenders actually STAY locked up) when they should be quickly and painlessly removed from both the gene pool & the face of this overpopulated planet…

American’s are still in the torches and pitchforks stage of ‘justice’. The least annoying attorney wins the case.And we generally want to fry everyone. But if you save us the cost of trial by confessing then you get “life”. Only those who refuse to confess really face the death penalty anymore.

Insanely harsh on some, too lenient on a lot of psychos. The piece of trash (my husband’s brother) who is a multiple violent offender, who tried to kill my husband and I more than once got out in less than a year after I put him away. He was also on parole when the last incident happened.
We are living good now, but the PTSD is crippling.
He’s back in prison now. Attacking people while naked outside will do that.

As an Australian, I can tell you that the Australian Judiciary system is a national disgrace, and a very bad joke perpetrated on Australian on society. Some of the worst offenders (Murderers, women abusers, Child molesters, etc. etc. ) get very little real prison time commensurate to their offenses, Apparently, all you have to do is get a Liberal left-wing lawyer,(not hard to do in Australia.) show a modicum of remorse, claim physical and sexual abuse as a child from drug addicted, alcohol abusing parents, and you can pretty much get away with it. The courts are notoriously soft on crime. It’s one of (but not the only) reasons I’ve refused to return to Australia to live.
