This way of thinking is part of the problem. She obviously knew right from wrong because she was scared that her mom would get mad cuz she did something wrong, which was have sex. So she knew having sex was wrong, but she didn’t know that killing the baby was wrong? No. She knew what she was doing and she for sure planned to keep hom quiet somehow. I think she planned it. Cuz she had the ovaries to tell her mom she had a miscarriage but was too scared to say she actually had a baby? What’s the difference? Her mom could’ve given him up for adoption or raised him as her own. She should’ve gotten more time.

She is still a child, yes she knows murder was wrong, but she probably didn’t consider it murder since it just came out of her body. She had a typical young teen response to not get in trouble, she hid it and covered up the evidence.

Considering that the human brain doesn’t even stop fully developing until the age of 25, it’s safe to say that the age of 14 is not considered an adult by any means. They are very much still too emotionally, physically, sexually and mentally immature to be considered adults. Science has backed up such a claim as much as a high school course on human biology.

That’s it? At 14 she knows not to commit murder. I think it was pre-meditated-she hid the pregnancy, lied about her tests, and thought that the only way to keep her life the way it was to commit murder. She should have at least gotten 20 yrs with no parole.

Where was her support system?” Obviously, Cassidy had a very doting mother, whom I’m sure would have been there to hear her daughter out had she sat her down and just told her. This was about Cassidy avoiding the responsibility of becoming a mother without telling anyone what she did. Or are we now going to claim she was raped, because “children can’t consent to having sex?” Adults need to wake up and realize that 14-year-olds and older are not children. They are not legal adults, but they are not children either. Until adults realize this, these young people will continue to be given a pass and dismissed for their bad actions involving sex.
