They proved that David Mabrito did in fact commit this terrible murder. The detectives found David’s son so were able to prove by DNA.
Poor parents and poor son. They met and bonded from the atrocity.

Update:
In November of 2018, David Mabrito was identified as a suspect in the rape and murder. Authorities believe that Mabrito is a suspect based on software that uses DNA and genetic ancestry to recreate physical appearance composites. Unfortunately Mabrito committed suicide in 2011.

As a father I know I would feel regret for the rest of my life although I would have done the same thing as her parents… Nobody would have had any idea what was taking place was something this horrible in their wildest imagination. I can’t imagine how much it must have hurt them to see the incident as it was happening and just write it off. I don’t think they’re at fault at all, but I know if I were in their situation I’d probably feel so guilty.
